After the homeowner explained she had a leak from her house to a porch that was an addition A roof inspection was preformed, from a simple inspection it was easy to see when the added on was roofed. The previous roofers did not weave the shingles together. Instead they were placed side by side and heavily chalked. This is not proper installation coming off a chimney with a valley other wise known as a cricket.
The solution was to remove the old shingles up to the existing ridge on the cricket. The chimney flashing was also replaced as well as well as the opposing shingle valley. This repair took about half a day and was successful in fixing the leak.
